To make use of semantic technologies, in particular Semantic extension installed on this wiki, such as the Semantic drilldown or the ontolgy borwser, it is necassry to annotate facts within the existing wiki articles. Ideally this process of annotating is done by the users involved in the creating, using and managing the database. There are three different ways of annotating articles.
The Advanced Annotaion Mode (AAM)
This way is the most intuitive approach to annotaing articles. Therefore it is recommended for users new to semantic mediawiki.

The Semantic Toolbar (STB)
The Semantic Toolbar is quite similar to the AAM except that it is embedded in the edit mode, making it little bit more complicated to use than the AAM.

Use of "Annotation-Syntax" in the edit mode
This way is the most complex one, and not recomended for users new to semantic mediawiki. However, once familiar with the existing ontology and syntax, it can sometimes be the fastest and least error prone way of annotating. It will also allow you to quickly recognize errors and mistakes. This way of annotaing also does not require additional tools such as the Semantic ToolBar
